These terms apply to your use of TokenCalc (tokencalc.dev). By accessing or using the site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

What TokenCalc Provides

TokenCalc offers browser-based tools for counting tokens, comparing LLM pricing, estimating API costs, calculating VRAM requirements, and related AI development tasks. All tools are provided free of charge and run entirely on your device.

Pricing Data and Accuracy

Our pricing calculators, model comparisons, and cost estimators rely on publicly available information from AI providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, and Mistral. This data is gathered and updated periodically, but it may not reflect real-time pricing changes, promotional rates, volume discounts, or provider-specific agreements you might have.

Always verify pricing directly with the provider before making purchasing decisions or committing budget. TokenCalc is a planning tool, not a billing system. We cannot guarantee that the prices shown on our site match the exact amount you will be charged by any API provider.

Token Counts Are Estimates

Token counting methods vary across providers and models. For OpenAI models, we use tiktoken for exact counts. For other providers (Claude, Gemini, Llama, Mistral), our tools produce estimates based on available tokenization information. Actual token usage reported by a provider's API may differ from our estimates. Do not rely on TokenCalc as the sole source of truth for billing projections -- always cross-reference with the provider's own usage dashboard.

No Warranties

TokenCalc is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant that the tools will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the results they produce are perfectly accurate. You use the tools at your own discretion and risk.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of Liability

TokenCalc, its operators, and contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site or tools. This includes, without limitation, financial losses resulting from decisions made based on pricing or token estimates displayed by our calculators.

In no event shall our total liability exceed the amount you paid to use the service, which is zero since all tools are free.

Intellectual Property

The code, design, text, and branding of TokenCalc are owned by us. You may use the tools for personal and commercial purposes (calculating your own costs, for instance), but you may not copy the site's interface or code to create a competing product.

Model names, logos, and trademarks mentioned on the site (such as GPT-4, Claude, Gemini, Llama, Mistral) belong to their respective owners. TokenCalc is not affiliated with or endorsed by any AI provider.

Embedded Tools

TokenCalc provides embed codes that let you place our calculators on your own website. Embedded tools are subject to the same terms. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue embed functionality at any time.

Modifications to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, the revised version will appear on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Termination

We reserve the right to restrict or terminate access to the site for any user who violates these terms, at our sole discretion and without prior notice.
