Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 7, 2026

TokenCalc (tokencalc.dev) offers free tools for counting tokens, comparing LLM pricing, and estimating API costs. Every one of these tools runs client-side, directly in your browser. This policy covers what data we touch and, more importantly, what we don't.

We Don't Track Which Models You're Evaluating

When you paste text into the token counter, compare model pricing, or run cost projections for a RAG pipeline, all of that processing happens in JavaScript on your machine. We have no visibility into which AI providers you're considering, what prompts you're testing, or how much you plan to spend on API calls. Your evaluation workflow is entirely private.

There is no server-side component receiving your inputs. The calculation logic ships with the page, and once it loads, your browser does the rest. We could not reconstruct your API usage patterns even if someone asked us to.

Browser Storage

To make repeat visits more convenient, TokenCalc saves a few things to your browser's local storage:

This data never leaves your device. We have zero access to it. Clear your browser data and it vanishes for good -- there are no copies on our end.

Shareable Calculation Links

Several tools let you generate a shareable link that encodes your current inputs into the URL hash (everything after the # character). Because browsers don't send the hash fragment to the server, we never see the data embedded in these links. Keep in mind, though, that anyone you share the link with can view the encoded values.

No Accounts, No Personal Information

TokenCalc does not have user accounts. We never ask for your name, email, company, or payment details. There is no registration wall. Every calculator on the site is available immediately, no strings attached.

Cookies and Advertising

We do not place any first-party tracking cookies on your browser, and we don't use analytics services like Google Analytics or Mixpanel.

To keep TokenCalc free, we may show ads through Google AdSense. Google may set its own cookies to serve ads that are relevant to your interests based on your browsing history. You can control ad personalization through Google's Ad Settings, or opt out of personalized ads entirely at aboutads.info/choices.

Third-Party Resources

TokenCalc loads web fonts from Google Fonts, which may result in Google receiving your IP address when the font files are requested. Beyond advertising and fonts, no other external services receive data as a result of your use of our tools.

Security Posture

Because we don't collect or store user data on any server, there is no centralized data store that could be compromised. All pages are delivered over HTTPS to protect against tampering during transit.

Children

TokenCalc does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. Since we collect no personal information from any visitor, this applies universally regardless of age.

Policy Updates

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published here with a new date at the top. We recommend checking back occasionally.
