About TokenCalc
If you've ever stared at an LLM provider's pricing page and thought "okay, but what will this actually cost me per month?" -- that's the problem TokenCalc exists to solve.
The AI space moves fast. New models launch constantly, pricing structures change, and comparing costs across providers means juggling tabs full of documentation. We wanted a single place where developers, product managers, and anyone building with LLMs could get clear answers to practical questions: How many tokens does this prompt use? What will my monthly API bill look like? Can this model actually run on my hardware?
TokenCalc currently offers 12 free tools covering token counting, pricing comparison, cost estimation, VRAM calculation, RAG pipeline budgeting, and more. Each tool is designed around a specific decision point in the development process -- from choosing a model to projecting production costs.
How It Works
Everything runs in your browser. When you load a tool, the code is delivered to your device and from that point on, your data stays local. There are no API calls back to our servers, no accounts to create, and no usage limits. You can count tokens, compare pricing, and estimate costs as many times as you need without worrying about someone tracking your evaluation process.
Why Transparency Matters
AI API costs can spiral quickly in production. A system prompt that seems trivially small might consume thousands of dollars in tokens over a month. A provider that looks cheap on per-token pricing might have rate limits that force you into a higher tier. We believe developers should be able to model these scenarios before writing a single line of integration code, not after the first invoice arrives.
That's the principle behind every tool on TokenCalc: make the cost picture clear upfront so you can build with confidence.
